Science Fact: Baja'ing everything guarantees a 300% boost in car sales.

As a 2002 owner, I should be upset by this. But strangely, I'm not. In fact, there's a catastrophically rusty abandoned '73 in our lot that this should happen to.

This makes me sad and aroused at the same time. I don't understand...

I LOVE the look of old econoboxes with big off-road tires.

Weirdest boner ever, right?
Also, I posted a few days ago and Lou's 2002 is in the pictures. Thought you might want to see it.

Definitely a very weird, emotionally conflicted boner.
And that driveway is full of beauty. All roundies, too! Very cool. I always love seeing Lou's car. Those wheels look so great on it. I'm glad they went to a good home.
Also, little update. You know this car, right?
Well, I'm buying the front coilovers off of the owner. $400! That sure as hell beats the $1000 or whatever it is from IE. They're GroundControl Coils (pic below), really good quality from what I've heard. I still need to get camber plates and new springs and shocks for the rear, but it's some progress at least. I won't run it quite as low as he was, maybe an inch higher.

WHAT THE FUCK. Shit, you find all the best deals. I love that car. though he should have shaved reflectors and used Euro signals. I'm not spending too much right now because of college and a girlfriend. Need an alignment after all the suspension shit I did. But, also still have no idea what wheels and tires to get. The e21 turbines are useless. No one has 13" tires anymore.

It's all about patience, I guess. I've been looking into coilovers for three years but kept waiting in hopes something like this would happen. I didn't expect I would get quite this lucky. I definitely agree on the reflectors and signals. It would've really finished it nicely. Do you know that the owner of that car has $4k into the rear bumper alone?? He smoothed out all the brackets and connecting pieces and whatnot, rechromed it, etc.. And for such a subtle change. I have so much respect for that kind of attention to detail.
But I feel you on the college/girlfriend thing. I wasn't planning on buying any upgrades any time soon, but I literally could not turn that deal down. It'll be a while until I can afford springs and shocks for the rear though. As for tires, it really sucks that they're so hard to find. I almost sold my bottlecaps to run the original wheels, but I needed new tires and tires for the bottlecaps were so much cheaper. Have you been able to find any cool 14s? Off the top of my head, I know Hankook makes a bunch of sizes for 14 inch wheels.

I had some idea about the bumpers. Read the article a few months ago and after a good look, I knew it was a pretty penny. To me, not worth it. I baffled as to why he would spend that much of slight bumper mods and not spend 300-400 for euro turn signals. Also, I have a set of nice MD blue plates just like his. Just have to register them eventually for $25.
The thing with wheels, is that I love steelies. Ti/SA wheels are the dream. Now, I can get 14x5" wheels off a 2000cs for about $120. 5 wheels freshly painted and hubcaps. Great deal. I might go for it and eventually go to a wheelsmith and make them 14x6.5 or maybe 15s. It's the cheapest route right now.
Also, just came across this tonight . I think I found my new wheel. Pretty cheap.
Where do you live again? We have to meet up somehow.

Oh, shit. I had no idea the 2000CS had 4x100. That would be awesome! And definitely easier to find good tires for them. Plus, for that price you could totally refinish them, widen them, and have them looking like a million buck for less than what a lot of people spend on wheels. The blue MD plates would look great on a white car too.
Damn. Those look like really, really nice steering wheels and the prices are really good. Personally, I need to hold out for one of these.
Too bad they're impossible to find and cost more than I can justify spending on a steering wheel. Maybe if I wait 3 years one will magically fall into my lap! Ahaha.
I live in CT, but I'm in Boston for school. But yeah, we should definitely meet up at some point. I wish H2Oi wasn't during my school year. I would definitely come down to MD for that if I could... But probably not in anything modified after this last year.
